Sightsavers International
There are 37 million people who are blind worldwide and a further 124 million people who have low vision. Around 90% of these people live in the developing world yet 75% of all blindness is either avoidable or treatable. The statistics are staggering but people do not go blind by the million, they go blind one by one and the impact for each person is enormous.
Saving Sight, Changing Lives
For over 50 years, Sightsavers International has been working with local partners to combat blindness in developing countries and support people who are blind. During this time we have helped restore sight to more than five million people and treated over 100 million for potentially blinding conditions. Sightsavers’ support reaches those who need it most – individuals living in some of the poorest countries of the world.
